Location: Lower Brule Sioux Tribe Reservation, Lower Brule, South Dakota

TUESDAY MAY 16: Mapping and Mobile Forms Workshop

NOTE: This day will be an applied workshop for tribal staff that are involved in tribal TRP data management, data entry and/or mapping (no GIS experience needed). Bring your laptops (you will need a laptop, not a tablet) to access and work on your data and/or maps, and if possible also bring an Android mobile device.

Demonstration of BIT databases by Oral Saulters

10:00-11:00 Mapping 
o Access your maps for viewing offline 
o Annotate your maps offline 


1:00 – 2:30 PDF Forms for Mobile Devices and Open Data Kit Forms for Android Devices

  • Collecting data for BIT, ACRES and other databases using offline forms for tablets and phones
  • Exporting data for mapping and database entry
2:30-4:00 Sharing Your Data
  • Putting your maps on your website 
  • Sharing databases online 
4:00 – 5:00 pm: Update on national trends on data coordination & mgt.
  • Demonstration and Discussion by Victoria Flowers, Oneida Nation
